Welcome to my first CEO Blog on www.newforge.com

Although I have been CEO of the Athletic Association since 2004, I have been on a two year secondment with the Belfast World Police & Fire Games company. I hope that you had a chance to take part in the Belfast Games and if not, I hope you agree that they brought Belfast and Northern Ireland to life with different cultures and visitors over the two week period! Now that the Games have finished I have returned to the Athletic Association to continue working on initiatives to advance police sport & recreation.

Recently we had our annual Remembrance Day Service at Newforge Country Club on 11th November. The Service began at 11am with representatives from the Disabled Police Officers Association, Northern Ireland Retired Police Officers Association, RUC GC Widows Association and Police Service of Northern Ireland lay wreaths beside the RUC Athletic Association wreath. For photographs from this annual event please visit our gallery.

Looking ahead to December, it is only about 5 weeks until Christmas! As usual, the Athletic Association has a wide range of Christmas functions available for our members and their families to avail of. To review our Christmas functions and Santa Sunday Carvery events, please click here.

The Association relies on the support of its members in order to continue to provide products and services. I hope you and your family can visit the complex over the festive period. McLeaves Lock Restaurant has undergone a refurbishment so if you haven’t visited for a meal recently then there’s a brand new look restaurant to enjoy! To celebrate the refurbishment we have also launched a prize draw. To view photos of the new look McLeaves and the prize draw please click here.
